THE POWER OF CHANGE CONFERENCE

Promoting a Dynamic and Diverse Wales

ACCA Cymru WalesACCA Cymru/Wales is committed to developing the leadership agenda in Wales and promoting the principles of diversity within Welsh business.

We recognise the intrinsic importance of Wales’ leaders to be sensitive to the needs of the communities of Wales and the benefits of promoting diversity.

With the rise of ethical consumerism, customers and stakeholders frequently make choices based on the values of organisations and those businesses which can best demonstrate a genuine commitment to promoting diversity are often the most successful.

ACCA Cymru/Wales recognises the principles of inclusivity and diversity and is a member of the Equality and Human Rights Commission’s ‘Equally Professional’ network which promotes these tenets within the professions.

ACCA Cymru/Wales is also a proud supporter of the forthcoming Power of Change conference.

“The Power of Change!”

True leadership at its best is about using the inside out approach. When we respect and value ourselves, we are more likely to respect and value others.

Leadership is about representation. Representation of self and others. As individuals we are conditioned to see the world through our own narrow vision. This can sometimes exclude others and could be detrimental to the actions we take or the decisions made on behalf of others. When we value and respect difference, our narrow vision is exchanged for a much broader view and appreciation of diversity and the richness it brings.

A leader must see beyond self. A person who truly encompasses the richness of others. The ordinary man or woman will to look at a leader and see themselves represented. There should be a clear message that says ‘ I value and respect you’ or ‘ I see the uniqueness in you’.
The message could be read through the eyes, felt by the warmth generated or by a reassuring smile.

The 21st century approach is that we can no longer separate leadership and diversity. The two are interdependent and interconnected. The key ingredient is ‘people’.

We cannot lead, unless we appreciate the differences that make us unique.

In managing diversity and leading change, we need to develop the necessary qualities that allow us to move from being an ordinary leader to an extraordinary leader. This process can begin with developing confidence, self-belief and a passion for people. A leader is someone who has a heart to serve the community they represent. It is a legacy of commitment, integrity and buying into the vision that brings out the ‘mosaic shine’ in everyone.

The power of change conference is a conference connecting leadership, culture, diversity and community development.

In our 21st century multicultural Britain, businesses that do not maximise the wealth and assets that diversity brings will be left behind. The world’s increasing globalisation requires more interaction amongst people from diverse cultures, beliefs and background than ever before.

Since managing diversity and leading a change agenda remains a significant organisational challenge, leaders must learn and harness the shills needed in a multicultural environment.

The power of change will increase work performance and customer service. It will empower individuals and organisation in an era where creativity and flexibility are keys to unlocking potential.

The power of change conference will inspire individuals, businesses, communities to believe and utilise the inner power or the power within to make a difference and accept the social responsibility that comes from leading a diverse society.
