Lamajo in Schools
Lamajo is an educational organisation which sets up projects using activities
offering an extensive range of cultural activities. These includes storytelling,
music, drama, dance and creative writing. Lamajo aims to use these art
forms as a way forward to raise awareness in race, identity and culture.
It encourages children to adopt an open mind, to approach and embrace
the diversity around us.
Children with learning difficulties respond very well to the approach adopted by Lamajo where active participation is always encouraged. Lamajo has extensive experience in working with children with learning difficulties and disabilities in particular .
Lamajo projects develop skills for lifelong learning.
Build the child's confidence and help them to view the world as a place where equality must prevail, a world in which what they do and say and how they behave matters.
Helping children to develop important skills:

- empathetic listening
- visual presentation
Lamajo also offers talks on assembly days - topics include bullying, multicultural and refugee issues and combating racism through the medium of drama, storytelling and creative writing.
Lamajo challenges children's common sense, ethnocentric perceptions and attitudes - attitudes that can lead to problems such as bullying, racism and insensitivity towards their peers. We aim to channel positive attitudes, and sensitise the way children view people from different parts of the world.
All projects can be tailored to meet individual needs / requirements. No idea is too small to be developed Lamajo will turn your needs / ideas into a successful project.
